San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, is 190 km or 118 miles away, a 3 hour 40 minute drive to Living Forest. San Jose is good source for getting supplies, for medical care and there are some museums, theaters and variety of restaurants.
Liberia is an hour drive from Living Forest. (The airport is 1 h 20 min drive) Liberia has some museums, restaurants, stores and many national parks to visit surrounding it, including Pacific beaches, volcanoes, bird sanctuaries, and waterfalls. Liberia has major stores including Pricesmart, Walmart and Pegueño Mundo.

La Fortuna is a 63 km, 40 miles, 1.5 hour drive from Living Forest. It is the main touristic town at Lake Arenal with numerous restaurants, stores etc. It is surrounded with a wide range of activities, such as zip lining, hot springs and hanging bridges.
Tilaran is a large town17 km, 10.5 miles, 20 minute drive from Living Forest. Here you can do your grocery shopping, find hardware stores, banks, doctors and dentists. We recommend the Supermarket Zamora which carries a good selection of health food items
Nuevo Arenal, is 17 km, 10.5 miles, 25 minute drive from Living Forest. You can find a bank and stores here, including a health food store.
Sabalito is not so much a town as it is a village. It is a short 1 mile,10 minute walk from Living Forest. Has one small store with the basics. The town has an amazing yoghurt factory selling greek style natural yoghurt (Tisufarm) items!
Tierras Morenas, is also a rural village 6 km, 3.7 miles, 10 minute drive from Living Forest. It has a couple of stores, and it hosts a popular annual Ox-cart festival.
Aquacate - 8.9 km, 5.5 miles away, 13 minute drive. This lovely small village host a favorite bi-monthly farmer market.
